Beginner courses

To join an archery club in the UK affiliated to Archery GB, you must have attended a beginners’ course. Our beginners’ course is a great way to have fun and learn more about archery. Numerous courses run through the year, indoor during the winter and outdoor during the summer. The six-session course is normally on a weekday evening and each session is up to two hours long.

Archery is a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all backgrounds, ages and fitness levels. Our coaches are trained to deal with most disabilities, but please contact us to discuss any specific needs before signing up.

Young people should be over 11 years old to join the course, though there is some flexibility at the discretion of the organisers. Beginners under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the sessions.

We are a friendly, welcoming club with our helpful coaches and members encouraging you to improve and take part in local competitions and events.

The cost of the course is £60 for adults and £30 for under 18’s. We supply all the archery equipment you need for the course and we have bows to match different sizes and physical abilities. On completion of our beginners’ course you may join our club, or you can use your certificate to apply to join another archery club.

To request a place on our next beginners’ course, please download and complete the application form. Courses are only scheduled to run when enough people have sent us their forms and requested a place. When you send us the form we will add you to our list, then when we have enough people we will contact you to discuss dates and times. Beginners course information and application can be downloaded here.
